In 2017, we are likely to see less industrial style furniture and design and more velvet textured elements and jewel tones. Here are a few highlights of new 2017 design trends as well as trends that are on their way out:
- Jewel tones: Rich and lively colors such as sapphire, emerald, ruby red, turquoise, magenta, etc. will be showing up within artwork, wall paint, furniture, and more. If you want to try out this new trend, here are some great jewel toned paint colors to check out:
-Magenta: Pink Corsage by Benjamin Moore
-Ruby Red: Smoldering Red by Benjamin Moore

- Built-In Bars: An extension of the bar cart trend of 2016 is the built-in bar trend for 2017. Many homeowners are turning to built-in shelving for cocktail accessories and/or bar seating to cater to hosting cocktail parties.
- Marble: This material will be on the rise this year. White and light gray marble will be a popular choice for countertops, household items, tabletops and flooring.
- Velvet: Velvet is popular in fashion right now and we will see it move into the home as well. Velvet pillows, furniture, and more will make it’s presence known.
Say goodbye to…..
- Quote art: Instead of quote based home decor, homeowners will start to turn to artwork inspired by nature.
- Grays: Even though we saw lot’s of gray in 2016 from furniture to wall color, more homeowners will be choosing to incorporate more color into their homes, especially with jewel tones.
