The third annual Wounded Warrior 5K event just got approval from the Plainfield Village Board and now the organizers need your help! This important event which benefits local servicemen and women will take place on Saturday, May 24th at Settler’s Park in downtown Plainfield. The organizers are asking kid’s help in designing the children’s T-shirts that the kids will wear this year. Children between the ages of 5 and 10 are invited to draw their idea of a military hero on the official entry form (find the form here) and submit it between 11 am and 3 pm on Saturday, March 15th at Nevin’s Brewing Company, 12337 S. Route 59 in Plainfield. The winning design will be featured on all kid’s T-shirts. A volunteer sign up will also be held at Nevin’s the same day and time for assisting with registration, packet pick-up, and refreshments at the May 24th race. Race course assistants and volunteers for the water stations are also needed. Both runners and walkers can now sign up for the race which begins at 8 am at Settler’s Park, 24000 W Lockport Street. Advanced registration is available until May 19th for $30 for adults (11&up), and $20 for kids 10 and under. After May 19th, the prices increase by $5.
