Closet Staging: How To Showcase The Space

Closet staging is a crucial step that needs to be taken while getting a home market ready. One of the number one things that buyers look for is adequate closet space so taking the time to maximize the closets in your home is very important.

  • Clean it out: Having an overstuffed closet really detracts from the space. Get rid of clothing and other items that aren’t being used.
  • Keep the floor clean: Shoes should be off the floor and in a shoe organizer or on a shelf. Any items that are on the floor should be stored away in a bin or put away somewhere else so the full size of the closet can be seen and appreciated. A cluttered closet floor will give the illusion of less space than the closet actually has.
  • Use opaque bins instead of clear: Even though it may be convenient to use clear bins in order to see the contents inside, they make the space look very cluttered. Using opaque bins will look much nicer and create a much cleaner look.
  • Arrange clothing by color: This is a great (and free) tip! Group clothing together by color and then arrange each color group according to clothing type. Not only is this free, it makes a huge difference in the overall look of the space!
  • Use matching hangers: Using hangers that don’t match makes the closet look very disorganized. It makes a huge difference to use hangers that match and it doesn’t have to be expensive to purchase new hangers-they can be found at discount stores such as the Dollar Tree. Using matching hangers goes a long way with closet staging.
