This first of the haunted house events has great reviews and has scared visitors for many years. The scare value is considered extreme, so it’s probably not suited for children under 13. There are two haunted houses for one price of $29.99, the main being “Massacre” and the second being “Fear Factor 3D”. According to their website it takes about 40 minutes once inside to go through both haunted houses.
Statesville Haunted Prison

Statesville is regarded as one of the premier haunted house experiences, and after all these years, it remains true. This year was announced as the last year it will be operated in this capacity. If you are curious about the experience, it’s now or never! No admittance to children under 10. General admission is $30.00 and you will experience a realistic prison atmosphere along with frightening prisoners and guards! This experience is approximately 45 minutes.
HellsGate Haunted House
3101 Canal St, Lockport, IL 60441
This haunted house experience in Lockport embraces the spirit of outdoor adventure. To get to the Haunted House, parking occurs in the Metra lot and guests are shuttled through the forest. There are hidden passageways and items to find! Children under 16 must have a parent or guardian but there is no age forbidden entry. General Admission tickets are $35.00, and the experience is estimated to last between 45 minutes to an hour.
Hayride of Horror in Dellwood Park

Eerie and in a more open environment, the Hayride of Horror will terrorize you and your family! While you wait for the ride to begin, scary movies play on the 20 foot outdoor screen. There is also a warm bonfire to keep you hot and ready during a cool evening. This could be fun for kiddos as well! Tickets start at $15.00 and the experience lasts at least 20 minutes.
Basement of the Dead Haunted House

The Basement of the Dead is a haunted house experience with a meaty legend to go along with it. This attraction is well known for its palpable scares and exciting thrills. It is another attraction better suited for older children 16 or older and tickets start at $35.00 for general admission. Experiences here generally last from a half an hour to 45 minutes and will leave you breathless!
The Old Joliet Haunted Prison

A staple of the Chicago suburbs during Halloween season, the Old Joliet Haunted Prison returns to scare visitors for another Halloween season. The Prison has been operating for a long time and offers substantial scares through the atmospheric prison scenes and incredible actors who bring it all to life. Children under 12 are not recommended. Tickets range from $19.99 to $29.99 depending on the day of the experience, and it lasts anywhere from 30 minutes to an hour.
Disturbia Haunted House

The last haunt on our list is Disturbia Haunted House. Located in Downers Grove, Disturbia haunted house events have a large focus on body horror and an atmosphere of dread. This is a companion experience to Basement of the Dead, and is sure to scare you with its thrills and creepy ambiance! Tickets for this experience range from $29.99 to $35.00 for General Admission; guests will complete the experience within about 45 minutes according to the website.
