Special Book Signing Event – Join Us!
On Wednesday, September 8th from 6:30 to 8:30 PM, I am honored to host a book signing with author Peggy Duke-Lindgren for her book, “The Boy Next Door”. The book tells the story of a wonderful young man, Mark Staehely, whom the community loved deeply for his big heart and boundless dreams. There will be refreshments available during this event.
Mark Staehely – Selfless Giant
Mark Staehely was a beautiful soul whose life was cut short tragically by cancer at the age of 18. Throughout his life in Shorewood, Mark was involved in helping lift the spirits of other children; at age 12, he started a toy drive after a Christmas in the hospital following stem cell treatment to combat the sadness felt by fellow patients. The first event brought in a few hundred items, and after the word spread to school leaders and firefighters, that number grew to more than 10,000 toys after just a few years.
After Mark’s passing his family and friends worked hard to form a foundation from his final requests; the “Make Your Mark”, Mark Staehely Pediatric Cancer Foundation was born.
