Cosley Zoo: Planning Your Visit

Have you ever been to Cosley Zoo in Wheaton? It’s a great small zoo so if you are not up for braving Brookfield Zoo yet, Cosley is the perfect place to bring the kids to enjoy the animals.

Cosley Zoo: What To Know

  • Tickets are required: Tickets need to be purchased online ahead of your visit at cosleyzoo.org. Only a set number of tickets will be sold for each time slot. Upon arrival at the zoo, you will see marked spots on the ground for where you need to stand in line.
  • No access to indoor areas
  • Walking paths are one way
  • Lot’s of safety reminders: As you walk through the zoo, you will see many signs reminding visitors to keep social distancing guidelines and to sanitize your hands throughout your visit.
  • Masks: Masks need to be worn by all guests ages 2 and up when you are within 6 feet of other visitors.

What To See At Cosley Zoo

During your visit, you can see your typical farm animals as well as several animals that are native to Illinois. You will see llamas, deer, cows, coyotes, bobcats, goats, ducks and more. There is also the aviary, which is home to several different types of birds as well as an owl exhibit.

As far as food goes, they welcome you to bring in your own food and eat at the picnic tables. You can also purchase food from the zoo. They have a concession stand that sells chicken nuggets, pizza, hot dogs, ice cream, snacks and more. Pricing for admission is free for Wheaton Park District residents with a park district ID, kids ages 0-17 are also free, Cosley Zoo members are free, non-resident adults are $7, and seniors 55 and up are $6. For parking, it’s free and located right outside of the zoo entrance. If you are bringing a stroller, that is no problem as the zoo walkways are very stroller friendly.
