There are lot’s of halloween activities to do in and around Plainfield to celebrate the upcoming holiday-there are amusement parks, haunted houses and more!

  • Haunted Trails Family Amusement Park: 1423 N. Broadway Street in Joliet
  • Annual Halloween Haunted House at the Timbers of Shorewood on Friday, October 20th from 5-10 pm and Saturday, October 21st from 5-10 pm. The Timbers of Shorewood is located at 1100 North River Road in Shorewood. 
  • Bronkberry Farms Fall Fest: October 14th and 15th from 9 am to 6 pm. 18061 S Bronk Road in Plainfield.
  • Heap’s Haunted Corn Maze at Heap’s Giant Pumpkin Farm located at 4853 U.S. 52 in Minooka.
  • Hayride Of Horror: October 13th, 14th, 20th, 21st, 27th and 28th from 7-10 pm in Dellwood Park located at 199 E. Woods Drive in Lockport.
  • The Ghost Tour of Naperville with Kevin Frantz: Walking tour of Naperville to check out haunted spots. Upcoming dates include Friday, October 13th, Saturday October 14th, Sunday October 15th and more. Call (630)-205-2664 for more information.

  • Harvest 5K and Kidz Miler: Sunday, September 24th at 8 am at Village Green Park in Plainfield. This fun annual event features a 5K and a mile race for kids. For more information, contact the Plainfield Area Chamber of Commerce at (815) 436-4431

  • Friday, August 4th from 4:30-7 pm is Food Truck Friday at Lake Renwick Preserve-Turtle Lake Access located at 23113 W Lockport Street in Plainfield. This is an event for the entire family and will feature delicious food  as well as fun activities.

Food Truck Friday

Food Truck Friday is coming up on Friday, August 4th from 4:30 pm to 7 pm at Lake Renwick Preserve! This event is free for the whole family. Rogue Curbside Kitchen will be serving sandwiches and more, Carnivale will be serving Latin fusion, and Ugly Truckin Sandwiches will serve a variety of fresh sandwiches. District staff will be available with preserve information, binoculars and field guides.  Take advantage of this cool opportunity to enjoy delicious food and to explore nature.   • Friday, July 7th-Movie In Settler’s Park. The Lego Batman movie will be shown Friday night beginning at 8:30 pm. The movie is rated PG and is about 104 minutes long. Settler’s Park is located at 24401 W Lockport in Plainfield. For more information, call 815-609-6124.
  • Sunday, July 9th from 12-4 pm the weekly Farmer’s Market will take place at 15025 S Illinois Street in Plainfield. Fresh fruit, vegetables, flowers, crafts and more will be available.
  • Tuesday, July 11th: Cruise Night will take place from 5-9 pm in downtown Plainfield. Check out one of the great restaurants downtown while checking out the cars!
  • Wednesday, July 12th: Coffee with the Mayor at Village Hall at 9 am. For more information, call 815-436-7093.
  • Friday, July 14th through Sunday, July 16th: Plainfield Fest is happening this weekend and will be packed with fun things to do for the whole family! This event is always a highlight of the summer and includes carnival rides, food, live music, beer tent, craft vendors, bags tournament and much more! Musical guests include Gruband, Semple, Stephen Neal, School of Rock, Burning Bridges, The Boy Band Night, Hi Infidelity and more. The hours for the fest are 5 pm until midnight on Friday the 14th, 11 am until midnight on Saturday the 15th, and noon until 6 pm on Sunday the 16th.

Local Fireworks Displays

  • Plainfield has two fireworks displays this year; one is at dusk on July 3rd at Plainfield Central High School and one is on July 1st at dusk at Bruce Ponti Park. Tune into Star 96.7 to listen to music as you watch the display.
  • Aurora: July 4th at dusk at RiverEdge Park located at 360 N. Broadway Street.
  • Yorkville: Fourth of July Celebration on July 4th beginning at 9 am. A parade starting at Yorkville High School will kick the festivities off followed by activities until noon at Yorkville Town Square (301 N. Bridge Street) and finally a fireworks display at dusk also at the Yorkville Town Square.
  • Oswego: Independence Day Fireworks will take place on July 4th at 9:30 pm at Prairie Point Park located at 4120 Plainfield Road. A rain date has been set for July 5th.
  • Romeoville: Independence Day Celebration featuring live music, food and fireworks starts at 6 pm at Deer Crossing Park (1050 W Romeo Road) with fireworks at Village Park (900 W Romeo Road) starting at 9:30 pm.
  • Joliet: Free Independence Day Celebration and Fireworks at Billie Limacher Bicentennial Park (201 W. Jefferson Street at Bluff Street) from 5-10 pm on July 1st with fireworks beginning at dusk. Admission is free with food and drinks available for purchase. This event features live music, brews, and games.
  • Channahon: Independence Day Celebration at Community Park (23304 W. McClintock Road) from 5:30 to 10:30 pm on July 4th with fireworks at 9:15 pm. This fun family event features a “Freedom Parade” with kids, pets and bikes, sand art, foam pit, inflatables, face painting, dodge ball, drinks, live music, and an after fireworks party until 10:30 pm.
  • Naperville: Ribfest fireworks are July 3rd at 9:30 pm at Knoch Park located at 724 S. West Street.
  • Morris: Grundy County Fair fireworks at dusk on July 3rd at the Grundy County Fairgrounds located at 8890 Route 47. Admission to the fair is free but there is a fee for some activities which include eating contests, stock racing, rides, games, livestock demonstrations/judging, Magic Matt’s Family Fun Show and more.
  • Bolingbrook: 4th of July Extravaganza-The All-American Celebration will take place at the Bolingbrook Golf Club (2001 Rodeo Drive) on July 4th at 2 pm with a fireworks display at dusk. Live music including performances by the Gina Glocksen Band and the Blackhawks tenor Jim Cornelison singing the National Anthem and a BBQ buffet (call 630-771-9400 ext. 4008 for reservations).

Plainfield Summer Events

Summer is officially here and there are a lot of fun Plainfield summer events happening!

  • Tomorrow, Friday June 23rd, beginning at 8:30 pm in Settler’s Park, the movie Trolls will be shown. The movie is rated PG with a run time of 92 minutes. Settler’s Park is located at 24401 W Lockport Street in Plainfield. For more information, call (815) 609-6124.
  • Sunday, June 25th from 12-4 pm the Plainfield farmer’s market will take place in the parking lot near the Plainfield Public Library. The market features fresh fruits and vegetables, flowers, baked goods and handcrafted items. For more information, contact Susan Bostanche at (630) 608-7344.
  • Cruise nights will happen on Tuesday, June 27th from 5-9 pm. Head to downtown Plainfield to enjoy classic cars on display.

Plainfield Summer Events

  • Saturday, May 27th: Ottawa Street pool opens! 23820 W. Ottawa Street. Hours are 12 pm to 8 pm
  • Monday, May 29th: Village Green Park splash pad opens. 24121 West Chicago Street. Hours are 11 am until 6 pm.
  • Summer Kick Off Bash: June 4th from 1-4 pm at Eaton Preserve located at 23601 W 135th Street in Plainfield. This fun event for all ages includes games, concessions, inflatables, and sand volleyball. This event is through the Plainfield Park District and does require registration so check their website for more details.
  • June 6th: Games on the go at Auburn Lakes, located at 11701 Millennium Parkway in Plainfield. Organized games will take place from 8:30 am until 10 am. Check the park district website for more games on the go events at local parks.
  • June 9th: Free movies in the park event at Settler’s Park, 15251 S. Van Dyke Road. Snacks will be available for purchase; the movie for this date is Sing. The rain date for this event is July 28th. Check the park district website for more Movies in the Park events.
  • June 17th: Birdhouse Building with Dad will take place at Mather Woods located at 25032 W. Renwick Road. Materials to build and decorate birdhouses will be available with the option to hike the trails afterwards. Drinks and snacks will be provided at the end of the hike. Check the Plainfield park district website for more information.
  • June 21st: The Cruisin Lake Geneva event leaves from the Louis Joliet Mall section 10 at 8:30 am and returns at 5:30 pm. Participants will be driven around Lake Geneva, have lunch at the historic Baker Mansion and have the opportunity to shop in downtown Lake Geneva. This is for ages 18 and up; check the Plainfield park district website for more information on the cost and how to register.
